Music History #1

Two serious bands at one point terrorized the United States and the world with their unconventional styles of rocking during the mid 90s to the end of the early 21st century. These bands were called Dog Worship Cat-Piss and Pain-Gnar. DWCP specialized in fast technical multicultural music and grunge fusion where as Pain-Gnar was a complex math rock unit with a perfect sense of annoying tonality. For a while the world was shaken.

Neither band signed to a major label. They built up a huge following as they toured the lands together building up an empire fair success based on DIY ethos. When no one thought they could go any higher they shocked the world by telling MTV that they both would appear at a special spring break concert in New Cancun. The year was 2017 and when it came time for the DWCP to play the curtain opened and the corpse of the long dead Robert Plant was revealed. This was viewed with gasps from the audience for several moments and then booing began and the corpse was removed from the stage. Pain-Gnar took the stage and set up their own equipment, refusing the help of MTV hired roadies. They checked their microphones for exactly 49 minutes and then after word thanked the audience and broke down their equipment. The mainstream was shocked and the underground was reaffirmed.

Several independent record labels at this point in history were prepared to rewrite the word mainstream due to their coming chance to take over the oligopoly of releasing music records. And this was how Independent music became what everyone listened to. A time when the radio was literally destroyed by acts of terrorism and mainstream record labels were put out of business. The music industry became merely a thing of the past. No band was fucked over by their label and inventive, worthwhile music flourished.

Refusing thanks, the two sister bands that started the movement, Dog Worship Cat-Piss (having at that point split into two different bands: Yellow Jack-Off Fever and Leather Man Syndrome) and Pain-Gnar (at that point having been renamed QUEST) built a space ship and set off into the void in a journey to colonize space and bring insane alternative music to the Universe.
